School Surroundings & Fire Ratings.

The school, situated on 3.5 hectares (8.5 acres) of grounds, bordered on one side by Ferny Creek, is well maintained and features many established trees.

The school is proud of its courtyards, oval, new basketball court and two adventure playgrounds bordered by a beautiful creek and bush land.

We have recently completed a refurbishment of our netball/play area, with a huge wet weather cover, water recycling, netball/basketball rings, power and lighting.  The school also has four new outdoor storage facilities.

As part of the Federal government’s Building Education Revolution (BER) we now have a beautiful Foundation-2 learning centre. The classrooms and buildings continue to provide excellent flexible learning spaces.

The school is situated in an environmentally sensitive area which is close to bushfire areas. This is an ongoing concern for our families. We respect and value their own Fire Safety plans and are aware that some of our staff members who also live in this area have their own to consider too.

During Code Red days, the school will be closed (families will have been informed of this with at least two days notice and once announced, this will not change.) In the case of Extreme Days, we expect families and staff to follow their own Fire Plans. If they chose to attend the school, we will have relocated to another school off the mountain where a modified curriculum will be taught.

There is a community fire refuge on site which was completed in 2014 and forms part of our F-2 building.
