Sustainable schools are designed to act as living laboratories to teach and embody eco-friendly initiatives that reduce our environmental impact.

From the compost used to feed our hungry chooks, to the plastic recycle program, to our solar panels – we try and run our school as effectively and sustainably as possible. We run a Kitchen Garden Program for our Foundation to Year 2 students.  Our Year 3 and 4 students manage the Hilton Henhouse.  They run this in a completely sustainable manner and also spend time learning about the life cycles of egg laying creatures.

Everyday strategies to maintain sustainability are:

Promoting a reduction in lunch waste

Using both sides of a sheet of paper

Print only what we must

Turn off the lights and heating when you’re the last one leaving a room.

Conduct a waste audit at regular intervals
